Fringe, Fringe, Fringe DIY

by mayashaw

I don’t know anything cuter for the summer than fringe! I love it and it is so easy to make! This DIY is a 2 in 1 post: Fringe necklace and fringe shorts! Get all of you T shirts ready you’ll need them!

Fringe Necklace

What you need:

– Old t shirt

– Scissors

Step 1: Take an old t shirt and cut off the sleeves, then take you scissors and slit up 4 inches up the middle of the t shirt.

Step 2: Once you have slit up the middle of the shirt cut the shirt diagonally towards where the sleeves used to be. Do this on both sides.

Step 3: After you cut the shirt you should have a triangle shaped bib on the front and back of the shirt. Next cut out the back of the shirt so that you are left with one side and the neck line. This will be your necklace!

Step 4: Lastly, cut away! Start at the bottom of the triangle shape and cut up towards the neckline ( if you want a longer necklace you can stretch the fringe when you are done).

OPTIONAL: Take the finished necklace to a sink and wet the fringe of the necklace. Take bleach (I used Clorox) and pour it into a bowl. Leave the necklace in the bowl for 10 min. or until tips are white.

Fringe Shorts

What you need:

– Old t shirts

– scissors

– fabric glue

– old shorts

Step 1: Take the old shirts and do the same steps to create the fringe necklace but skip step 3! Unfold the bid shape and cut the front and back in half so you have two of the same shapes.

Step 2: After you make the fringe ( I used different shirts with different colors for more texture.) Take some amazing fabric glue and glue the fringe to the pockets of the sorts ( or the butt pockets!) Make sure that you measured the fringe so that it fits perfectly onto the shorts!

Step 3: Let the glue dry and you’re done!

Send me pictures of your version of these DIYs I would love to see them and possible post them! I want to see you guys take, maybe add beads to the fringe or glitter or whatever! Make your own and have fun!
